Dating now a tall order for women.

Women wanting men they can literally look up to are scaling new heights to find them. Not content with bars and workplaces, South Australian women are turning to speed dating with one priority in mind – finding a man who is at least six feet, or 183cm, tall. Adelaide dating coach Matt Konig said the fairer sex tended to place more emphasis on height in potential partners but few saw it as a deal breaker.

"There's definitely a perception that a man should be taller than a woman, but when it comes down to it, you can't help who you fall for," he said.

Mt Gambier dairy farmer Stacey Wallis, who is 157cm tall, agreed that height was an appealing attribute, even though it made dancing with her 195cm tall husband, Charles, 46, difficult.

"I wasn't specifically looking for someone tall, but I do like it and can understand why other women do too," the 48-year-old said.

'Fast Impressions' recently held a Tall Men speed dating event – in which men had to be more than 182cm to take part in the series of eight minute dates .

It was the second of its kind to be held in Adelaide and the agency hopes the city will follow Sydney and Melbourne's lead, where they are held monthly..

It also runs several matchmaking services catering for precise wishlists, including those where only blonde women, or non-smokers, or toy boys can attend
