Worcester girl makes claim to be tallest teen

Emma Cahill, from Worcester, believes she is the tallest teenager in the UK, standing at 6ft 5½in (1.97m). She's aged 16 and wears a UK shoe size 14, so finding women's footwear is a real problem for her.  Her dad is 6ft 7in (2.01m) and her mum 5ft 10in (1.78m).

Emma said being tall has some benefits: "I was out with my mum, and a little lady came up and asked if I could get something for her off the top shelf.."

Emma has to look to Europe to get her footwear: "I have to go to Germany to get my shoes, and it's a bit of a pain. "My friends have the latest dolly shoe or the new high heels, and I can't go and get it." As a consequence, Emma walks around in trainers most of the time.

At primary school, she said she was at least a head taller than her school friends: "I had a growth spurt about the age of eight, and was then a size 8 shoe.

Her dad, Andrew, told BBC Hereford & Worcester's Andrew Easton: "It's just unfortunate that Emma can't get clothes and shoes to keep up with the fashion. "There's an opportunity there for some entrepreneur in the footwear or clothing industry."

Emma is currently in the sixth form at St. Mary's Convent in Worcester. Her mum thinks Emma could become a catwalk model, whilst her dad says she should play basketball.
